One of the highest peaks within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park "Mount Leconte" stands out in the memories of millions of visitors each year. Five trails, including the scenic Alum Cave and the Rainbow Falls trail which can be traveled on horseback, lead up to this majestic peak. Adventurous souls who stay the night on top can hike to the Cliff Tops to see the sun set and make the pre-dawn trek to Myrtle Point for sunrise. Rustic log cabins and the LeConte Lodge, which serves hearty meals to their hiking guests, provide a most memorable experience in the Smokies.
